Overall Responsibility:

Responsible for performing HR-related duties and working closely with the HR team in supporting MCPC. The position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruiting, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, payroll, and employment law compliance.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

General Human Resources

  • Understand and utilize Paycom HCM to research, run reports and assist associates with HR administration

  • Assist Cleveland in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures as needed.

  • Assist with annual performance evaluation program

  • Handles employee relations counseling, terminations and exit interviews

  • Participates in staff meetings with Operations and Sales

  • Keeps up to date on the latest and greatest developments in the field of HR utilizing Grand Rapids SHRM.

  • Other duties as assigned by your manager to support the HR functions in GR.

  • Provide training sessions in interviewing, separation techniques and other pertinent training to expand supervisor capabilities in the workplace.

  • Manage any potential focus groups with employees.

  • Must be well versed in the MCPC Handbook issued by MCPC in order to refer employees to company policies.

  • Employee Engagement including sending gifts to recognize employee life events.

  • Participate in Cleveland HR meetings as needed or when requested.

  • Participate in Cleveland Talent Solutions meetings when requested.

  • Overnight travel to Cleveland as needed.

Orientation

  • Manage the onboarding process for new hires in GR and also work with local vendors for contractor onboarding. Collaborate with Cleveland HR to obtain best practices

  • Oversee creation and coordination of orientation schedules with managers

  • Conduct new hire orientation meetings of new GR Associates

  • Upload I-9’s and confidentiality paperwork into Paycom

     Recruiting

  • Attend local job fairs when required

  • Proactively source candidates for open positions

  • Work closely with Talent solutions on all things Recruiting and to keep updated on talent techniques and systems

Key Outcomes of the Position:

  • HR functions in GR run smoothly and efficiently

  • New associates are onboarded and welcomed to the team in a consistent and friendly fashion

  • HR compliance in GR

Skills and Attributes Required:

  • Required to hold the highest level of confidentiality and trust and to abide by all laws related to payroll. This includes pay rate data, benefit selections, employee ages, etc.

  • Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills

  • Strong computer skills; experience with payroll applications a plus.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and etiquette. Must have a high degree of understanding of the importance of documentation and have experience in writing corrective actions or PIP’s.

  • Strong customer service skills, professional demeanor and a positive attitude

  • Ability to work with others in a team environment

  • Ability to prioritize workload

  • Exemplify to other associates of what it means to follow the policies and procedures at MCPC as an ethical member of the HR Department

  • Proficient communicator

Experience and Educational Requirement:

  • Entry Level College Graduate or High School Graduate with related work experience

  • Strong experience working with computers and Microsoft applications (I.E. Outlook, Excel, Word)

  • Understanding of basic HR concepts

  • 3 + years of professional work experience in an office related environment is a plus

Physical Requirements: 

The physical requirements of this job include frequent sitting with occasional walking around, carrying light objects, grasping, and reaching for things, rare stooping/crouching, clarity of vision, speaking and listening ability.  The mental requirements of this job include general intelligence, motor coordination skills, coordination of hands, eyes and feet, verbal, and numerical intelligence.  The workplace environmental conditions are that of a temperature controlled and clean office setting.  Occasional driving to other office or customer locations.  

Regular attendance and punctuality are an essential job function of this position.  In addition, the duties of this job need to be performed inside of our offices (unless authorized due to extraordinary circumstances by your manager and Human Resources) for the purpose of interaction and collaboration with colleagues and/or clients as necessary, the ability to adequately supervise the associate, and/or the availability of necessary equipment utilized for regular job functions.
