About this unit

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Center is a 42-bed unit at Blodgett Hospital. Team members enjoy working on the IRC unit as you are able to become an expert in so many areas since we care for a wide variety of diagnosis. Some of the patients we care for are stroke, lung and heart transplant, bone marrow transplant patients as well as ortho trauma, limb loss, brain injury and more. We often get to form great relationships with our patients and see them progress in a positive way. We have a very team-oriented floor and environment, which includes strong relationships as an interdisciplinary team. Also, we get the opportunity to care for every patient population within Corewell Health, thus a diverse learning experience.

Scope of work

Assumes shift accountability for managing, supervising, and coordinating the operational and financial effectiveness and efficiency of the nursing service/ unit of the hospital. Some service lines may require the ability to be available for on-call to better support the nursing service/unit. Additionally, Inpatient Supervisors may be required to fill-in for the hospital supervisor as needed. Key responsibilities include assisting with the following: clinical support, unit-based goal setting, program development, fiscal management, resource allocation, standards of care, policy and procedure development and interpretation, performance improvement, performance correction, and coaching and mentoring.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) Required.

  • Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) Preferred.

  • Skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through 1+ year of related clinical experience in area of specialty.

  • MI RN license Required.

  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Saving (BLS) Required.

  • NIHSS NIH Stroke Certification within ninety days Required.

  • Corewell Health RN Supervisors are required to obtain their Nursing Administration or Professional/Specialty Certification within 12 months of assuming the role, or within 12 months of achieving eligibility to sit for the exam if not eligible upon hire into the role.
