MAINTENANCE MECHANIC ASSISTANT

GENERAL INFORMATION:
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Repair and maintain a variety of production equipment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Repair and maintain a variety of production equipment to include pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical machinery.
- Inspect and service electric and electronic controls, circuits and panels.
- Bend and install conduit, pull and terminate wires and check and clean motors, relays, and contacts.
- Disassemble, select repair procedures and repair or replace worn or defective parts using hand tools and hand power tools and simple machine tools.
- Perform welding operations.
- Assist in moving equipment.
- Maintain preventative maintenance records and schedules on all machinery and equipment, including oiling and greasing of machinery.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records on all equipment.
- Actively promote and maintain a safe work environment.
- Comply with all Company policies.
- Notify supervisor (or lead person) immediately of problems, concerns or questions you may have.
- Keep work area clean and free of hazards.
- Follow special job instructions as communicated by Maintenance Lead or managers.
- Any other duties as assigned by Plant Manager or Maintenance Lead.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Basic knowledge of industrial maintenance
- Must have own set of hand tools
- Knowledge of metal stamping/fabrication equipment
- Knowledge of plumbing, piping, and electricity
- High level of mechanical aptitude
- Experience performing all maintenance on/around building
- Able to read English as required for interpreting manuals and prints; and to speak and understand English to communicate effectively with co-workers in work environment
- Safety and quality minded
- Self motivated, takes initiative
- Capable of working with minimal supervision.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Metal shop environment; Air conditioned plant area; Heights; Small spaces; Appropriate personal protective gear required at all times while in the shop.
LEVEL:
Works under minimal supervision, exercises large degree of discretion and independent judgment. Works under the pressure of deadlines.
