Responsible for manning equipment in an effective and safe way. This
equipment can include trucks, bulldozers, forklifts, bore rigs,
front-end loaders, trenchers, hand tools, etc. You must be able to get
on and off large equipment safely and efficiently. An equipment operator
must also be willing to perform all Laborer jobs tasks.
Laborer job tasks that Equipment Operators must be willing to perform
include but are not limited to: Operate hand/power tools, clean &
prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces, clean up debris, load & unload
construction equipment/materials, direct traffic, etc.
Equipment Operators must be physically fit, hardworking, and able to
follow instructions quickly and efficiently. They quickly learn to pay
attention to what they are doing, follow safety precautions, and become
handy with many kinds of tools. They may work on different crews doing
various jobs, so having skills in a number of areas, as well as being
able to get along with people, is important.
