CASCADE COUNTY Deputy Sheriff Lieutenant in GREAT FALLS, Montana

Each applicant is REQUIRED to provide the following: --Completed Cascade County Employment Application --Complete signed and notarized supplemental forms with PREA signature sheet --Possess or be eligible for a Montana Driver's License with a good driving record; --Copy of High School Diploma, GED or HSE --Signed copy of Job Description (acknowledges you have read and understand the duties) --Detailed resume of work experience POSITION DESCRIPTION A Deputy Sheriff Lieutenant serves in a highly responsible, highly skilled, and visible capacity in protecting life and property, preserving the public peace, preventing crimes, arresting law violators, enforcing all laws and ordinances, and doing related work as required. The Lieutenant participates as a productive and contributing member of the Sheriff's Office Leadership Team. The Lieutenant supervises a team of Sergeants, Corporals, and other law enforcement staff, reviews reports, gives budget input, and participates in the more complex law enforcement and investigative problems. The Deputy Sheriff Lieutenant assists in ensuring policies and procedures are followed and provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. This person helps establish and communicate Office goals, missions, and performance expectations, monitoring and evaluating performance, orientation and training, motivation and employee relations, career development activities, corrective action, and other associated activities. Contributes to a work environment that encourages positive staff morale, inspiration, leadership, and team building within the Office. *Education/Experience/Training: --High School Diploma, GED, or HSE required. --Must have met the prerequisites to become a Deputy Sheriff. --Recruitment & selection processes will involve a written test, physical test, interview, and criminal background check. --Must be a citizen of the United States. --Fifteen (15) years of full-time law enforcement experience. --Completed a minimum of 525 hours of law enforcement and public safety training of which 400 hours must be POST accreditation. *Certifications: --Possess or be eligible for a valid Montana driver's license. --Must possess a P.O.S.T. Command Certificate or equivalent if from another state. --A one (1) year probationary period must be completed before being confirmed to rank. --Montana P.O.S.T. certified or P.O.S.T. certified from another State. --CJIN/NCIC Mobile Computer certification is required within one (1) year of employment. --First Aid and CPR certification is required within one (1) year of employment. --Ability to obtain additional licenses and/or certifications as required by the position. *Responsibilities include but are not limited to: --Supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned personnel. --Provide leadership and guidance to subordinates. --Ensure compliance with Sheriff's Office policies and procedures. --Investigate and resolve citizen complaints and internal disciplinary matters. --Assist in the development of training programs for sworn staff. --Coordinate with all law enforcement agencies and community organizations as needed. --Perform other duties as assigned. *Sheriff's Office Employment Statement: Any individual with a felony conviction, a domestic violence conviction or outstanding warrants is ineligible for consideration for employment by the Cascade County Sheriff's Office. *SWORN REQUIREMENTS - Lieutenant - Minimum of fifteen (15) years full-time law enforcement experience, completed a minimum of 525 hours of law enforcement and public safety training of which a minimum of 400 hours must be POST accredited. The remaining 100 hours may include additional POST accreditation, college credits, documented interoffice, or other pre-approved training by the Sheriff. A one (1) year probationary period must be completed before being confirmed to rank. *Written testing, physical te t, and interview for employment as a Lieutenant with the Cascade County Sheriff's Office will occur on Thursday June 6, 2024, at the Cascade County Sheriff's Office.** The successful applicant must serve a one (1) year probationary period and will have a criminal background check conducted. The results thereof may disqualify the applicant from consideration for employment with the County. Any individual with a felony conviction, a domestic violence conviction or outstanding warrants is ineligible for consideration for employment with the Cascade County Sheriff's Office. This position is covered and subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement by and between Cascade County and the Cascade County Deputy Association.
