Duties Performed:
Complete and code receipts, invoices, vouchers, and journal entries.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable; post transactions to
assigned journals and ledgers or enter to automated systems; monitor
sufficiency of funds in accounts.
Review source documents (i.e. invoices, check requests, etc.) for
proper authorization, accuracy, and compliance with accounting rules.
Audit and verify expense reports.
Verify and correct discrepancies and errors; adjust and balance accounts.
Update and maintain vendor database as needed.
May recommend changes in various accounting reports, formats, and
operating procedures to the supervisor.
Check/audit time and attendance records; enter or post changes in pay and
deductions; calculate or compute wages, overtime, and premium pay using
automated systems. Compiles data and performs payroll tax filings.
Validate agency payroll production runs; prepare summary reports; document
agency internal payroll procedures/steps.
Assist employees, vendors, and agency managers by answering questions
related to accounts, procedures, and services. Respond timely and
appropriately to requests for information and refer more complex inquiries to
the supervisor for response.
Perform other special projects and duties as assigned.
Education/Credentials:
A High School Diploma or GED is required or an equivalent combination and
experience.
Associate degree (AA) or advanced business coursework from a vocational
school or college in the related field is preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred
Experience:
2 years' of technical accounting or bookkeeping experience.
