Summary
The Accounting Cost Manager will support our government contracting operations in a remote work environment, ideally in the DC/MD/VA area . The ideal candidate will have experience in government contract accounting, a strong understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and proficiency in Deltek/ Costpoint. This role will be responsible for general ledger management, financial reporting, contract billing, revenue recognition, and indirect rate processing while ensuring compliance with government regulations and company policies.

Essential Functions

Assist in month-end and year-end process, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate coding and classification of transactions
Support the preparation of financial reports for management, auditors, and government agencies
Assist in financial statement analysis, identifying variances and trends for management review s
Ensure compliance with FAR, CAS, DCAA, and other government regulations in all financial transactions
Support the preparation and submission of incurred cost proposals, provisional rate submissions, and indirect rate calculations
Monitor and maintain indirect cost pools and rates, ensuring alignment with company budgets and government requirements
Assist in DCAA audits and other regulatory reviews by preparing and providing supporting documentation
Utilize Deltek/Costpoint for financial transactions, reporting, and analysis
Assist in optimizing Costpoint processes for improved efficiency and accuracy
Support Deltek/Costpoint system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements related to financial reporting and government contract accounting
Prepare documentation and schedules for financial audits, DCAA audits, and internal reviews
Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance financial operations
Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies
Manages and oversees professional cost accounting activities
Implements cost control procedures and provides staff supervision over cost systems and methods
Manages the compilation of periodic statements of product cost and develops and/or prepares appropriate operating reports
Follows up expenditures of appropriations and supervises the assembly of data and comparisons of various budget items
Prepares cost analysis for use in contract adjustments
Excludes managers whose staffs consist of all nonexempt accounting jobs

Requirements
Must Have
6+ years of accounting experience in a government contracting environment
BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or other related disciplines OR 6+ years of directly related experience
Strong knowledge of FAR, CAS, and DCAA compliance
Mastery of Deltek/Costpoint
Experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close processes
Strong verbal and communications skills, working with senior leadership and across organizational teams
Strong analytical, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have
CPA, CMA or MBA
Knowledge of SF1408 compliance and business systems audits
Familiarity with cost proposal preparation and indirect rate calculations

The candidate is expected to demonstrate proficiency in all essential job functions, tools, and processes related to this position within the first 90 days of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in additional training, reassessment, or other actions as deemed necessary by management.
The base salary range for this position is: $115,277 - $162,498
This base salary range represents a general guideline. An individual’s base salary within that range is determined based on a variety of factors, including (without limitation) the scope, complexities, and responsibilities of the position, the government contract to which the position is assigned, geographic location, market conditions, and the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and skills.
