Youth and Workforce Development Programs POSITION TITLE: Peer Advocate -
Youth Action Board LOCATION: In person in Greenfield and/or Northampton,
option to partially work remote after 90 days. STATUS: Non-exempt, 25

experiences. POSITION SUMMARY: The Peer Advocate roles recognize the
leadership of youth/young adults to bring valuable advocacy and
engagement to improve the success of programming and services. The Peer
Advocates work together to challenge adultism and advocate for
youth/young adults to make programming, processes, and policies more
accessible. The Peer Advocate Youth Action Board will play a
collaborative leadership role in developing and facilitating the Youth
Action Board programming (YAB). The Peer Advocate role is an opportunity
for a youth/young adult to have the continued support of
programming/services while stepping into a full staff position with
mentorship and support to grow their skills towards staff leadership

Peer advocates have experience as a program participant in CAPV Youth
and Workforce Development Programs in a Peer Leader, Intern, or advisory
role (Ex. YAB, Youth Council). The skills to engage with peers in
structured group and individual program activities. The skills to
support peers in activism and training opportunities to build leadership
and professional development skills. The skills to develop community
relationships to create collaborations that center youth/young adults\'
needs. SKILLS REQUIRED Openness to understanding peers as experts of
their own varied experiences and identities. Understanding and
willingness to talk about issues using an approach that is positive,
engaging, accessible, and inclusive. Experience in group settings with
an interest in growing group facilitation skills. Basic computer skills
and willingness to learn: Microsoft Outlook Email, Calendar, and Teams
chat; Discord, and Zoom. Developing verbal (in-person, phone and Zoom)
and written communication skills (email, discord and fliers). Growing
organizational skills such as task lists and prioritization, office
space set up, online file management systems, and notetaking to keep up
with changing policies and plans. Building an understanding of how to
confidentially track and enter data in excel and agency database (CMS).
Set and maintain boundaries with peers, co-staff, and supervisors with

Requires sitting for long periods of time. Working in an office
environment. Some bending and stretching required. Use of a work
cellphone provided by Community Action Pioneer Valley required. Manual
dexterity required for use of calculator and computer keyboard. Must be
able to lift from 20-30 lbs. The work environment includes indoor office
environments or comparable spaces, and community spaces, with occasional
exposure to outdoor weather when traveling to outreach or meeting sites.
The noise level varies by site.
