Service Market Logistics (SML) is part of Group Trucks Operations (GTO). We are an organization of approximately 4,000 employees globally in more than 40 locations. Every day, we are delivering world-class operational excellence for our customers, based upon smart logistics solutions. Our job is to develop, manage and optimize the Service Market supply chain for all Volvo Group brands and JV’s. The scope for Service Market Logistics includes Flow Optimization, Inventory Management, Distribution Center operations, Customs & Trade, as well as the development of logistics solutions to ensure the highest possible parts availability, delivery precision and quality everywhere in the world.

Mission/Purpose of the Position

As the Manager – Reporting & Analysis, you will lead, mentor, and challenge a high-performing Regional Business Control team, ensuring a coherent financial narrative for the region. You will be responsible for driving financial storytelling, strengthening cross-functional collaboration, and influencing key business decisions.

This role is not about reporting numbers, it’s about creating clarity from complexity, identifying risks and opportunities, and shaping the strategic direction of SML NA. By partnering with finance and operational teams, you will drive performance improvements, cost optimization, and financial transparency across departments.

Your ability to challenge assumptions, connect financial insights with business strategy, and influence decision-making will be instrumental in securing long-term success for SML North America.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Storytelling & Decision Support

  • Develop a coherent financial narrative for the region, ensuring clarity in reporting and insights.

  • Act as a strategic advisor, challenging assumptions and influencing senior leadership decisions.

  • Translate financial data into actionable insights that drive business performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Challenge

  • Partner with SML departments to challenge financial assumptions, optimize costs, and drive efficiency.

  • Support key initiatives by providing fact-based recommendations to operational teams.

  • Ensure alignment between financial results, business strategy, and performance objectives.

Financial Reporting, Forecasting & Performance Management

  • Lead financial consolidation, reporting, forecasting, ensuring accuracy and transparency.

  • Monitor and challenge financial KPIs, identifying risks and opportunities.

  • Drive cost deployment initiatives to improve financial efficiency across the region.

Team Development & Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Business Control team.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, critical thinking, and collaboration.

  • Empower team members to take ownership of financial analysis and strategic insights.

Digital Transformation & Process Improvement

  • Streamline and enhance financial processes by connecting multiple data sources and automating reporting.

  • Leverage Power Pivots, Power Queries, and overall Microsoft Power Tools to improve data modeling and reporting efficiency.

  • Utilize advanced Excel formulas and automation to reduce manual efforts and improve accuracy.

  • Continuously optimize financial processes, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and data integrity.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in financial planning, reporting, or business controlling, preferably within a logistics, supply chain, or manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience, managing and developing high-performing financial teams.

  • Preferred: CPA, CMA, MBA, or equivalent advanced certification.

  • Strong expertise in financial reporting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost modeling.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, cross-functional, and global environment.

  • Proven ability to lead financial discussions, challenge assumptions, and influence key stakeholders.

Essential Skills & Competencies

  • Financial Storytelling & Strategic Communication: Ability to translate complex financial data into compelling narratives that drive business decisions.

  • Leadership & Mentorship: Passion for coaching, guiding, and developing high-performing teams.

  • Cross-Functional Influence: Strong ability to challenge assumptions, provide financial guidance, and influence diverse teams.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong analytical skills to provide forward-looking insights and proactive recommendations.

  • Technology & Systems Proficiency:

Advanced Excel (Power Query, Power Pivot, Advanced formulas)

Power BI / Business Objects (highly preferred)

SAP, ESSBASE, VGCS, SAP Business Warehouse (preferred but not required)

Process Improvement & Digital Transformation: Ability to identify and implement financial process enhancements that improve efficiency.

High-Paced & Adaptive Mindset: Comfortable in a fast-changing, high-impact environment where priorities shift rapidly.
