Madison County School District Reading Coach - Part-Time - GES in Greenville, Florida

Location: Greenville Elementary School

Knowledge of child development and especially of characteristics of children in the age group assigned. Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum. Knowledge of current educational research. Basic understanding and knowledge of use of current technology. Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods to address student learning styles. Skill in oral and written communication with students, parents, and others. Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness. Ability to effectively assess levels of student achievement, analyze test results, and prescribe actions for improvement. Knowledge of learning theory, program planning, development, management and evaluation. Ability to interpret test results and develop instructional programs to address program needs. Knowledge of the teaching/learning process in the school setting. Ability to facilitate various size groups to consensus using facilitative leadership skills. Ability to balance several job functions at one time and work under a heavy workload. Ability to work cooperatively with other departments and agencies. Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences in both oral and written form.

Service Delivery * 1 Coordinate the schools screening and diagnostic assessment program * 2 Collect and interpret data * 3 Provide training for teachers related to reading and data analysis * 4 Provide demonstration/model of lessons * 5 Coach and mentor teachers to ensure high-fidelity implementation of researched based READING/MATH programs * 6 Assist grade level teams in analyzing assessment to inform instruction * 7 Monitor data * 8 Facilitate teacher study groups * 9 Serve as a member of the intervention team

Inter / Intra-agency Communication and Delivery *10 Attend monthly PAEC Reading Coaches Cadre meetings *11 Maintain a close working relationship with school administrators to ensure information exchange *12 Develop positive District/Community relations and act as a liaison between school and community in assigned areas. *13 Work with principals in analyzing and interpreting progress monitoring and outcome assessments *14 Serve as school-based representative on the appropriate boards, committees and projects *15 Ensure that needs of LEP students are being met

Professional Growth and Improvement *16 Promote and support the professional growth of self and others *17 Maintain a network of peer contacts through professional organizations *18 Attend READING/MATH Coach training offered by PAEC and other appropriate meetings and conferences *19 Keep well informed about current trends in education and all appropriate rules, laws and regulations *20 Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of staff development activities in the area of reading

Systemic Functions *21 Monitor assessment tests and accountability results and take steps to promote students achievement in READING/MATH *22 Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records *23 Make and share decisions in a timely manner *24 Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position
