THOR Solutions, LLC Navigation Electronics Technician in Groton, Connecticut

THOR Solutions is actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated Navigation Electronics Technician with significant experience with U.S. Navy Submarine navigation systems to support the Submarine Technical Support Center (STSC) at Naval Submarine Base Groton (NSB Groton) in Groton, CT.

The candidate’s responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) performing or supporting the following actions:

  • Serve as authority for direct fleet technical support on submarine navigation, ship’s control, and atmosphere monitoring equipment.

  • Have a broad knowledge of electronic principles, practices, and theories.

  • Apply knowledge, theory, and methodology in the analysis and resolution of problems encountered in trouble shooting assignments.

  • Support assessments, inspections, tests, and ship checks as required.

Worksite and Hours:

  • This is a full time, onsite position located at NSB Groton in Groton, CT.

Citizenship Requirements:

  • Due to the requirements of the federal contract that this position supports, U.S. citizenship is required. Citizenship will be confirmed via I-9/E-Verify at the start of employment.

Security Clearance Requirements: 

  • Must already posses an active TOP SECRET security clearance, and maintain it for the duration of employment.

Required Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: 

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

  • At least eight (8) years of general U.S. Navy submarine experience, including at least three (3) years of demonstrated, specialized experience with submarine navigation, ship’s control, and atmosphere monitoring equipment.

  • An ideal candidate will have at least ten (10) years of general U.S. Navy submarine experience, and additional years of specialized experience.

  • Must have familiarity and experience with the following hardware and systems:

  • 688 Class:

  • Ballast Control Panel (BCP)

  • Ships Control Panel (SCP)

  • Central Atmosphere Monitoring System (CAMS)

  • Radar BPS-15

  • Voyage Monitoring System (VMS)

  • Other various navigation equipment

  • 744 Class:

  • Fly-By-Wire Requirements and Certifications

  • Ships Control System (SCS)

  • Integrated Communications System (ICS)

  • Central Atmosphere Monitoring System (CAMS)

  • Radar BPS-16

  • Voyage Monitoring System (VMS)

  • Electronic Mooring Capstan (EMC)

  • Other various navigation equipment

  • Must have general Fiber Optic experience, including Certified Fiber Optic in CORE, Single Ferrule, Multi Terminus, Fusion Splicing, Optical Testing, and Quality Assurance.

  • Must have experience supporting:

  • Combat System Assessments (CSA)

  • In-service inspections (INSURV)

  • Total Ships Monitoring Assessment (TSRA)

  • System of Systems Assessment (SOSIMMA)

  • System Operational Verification Test (SOVT)

  • Pre-Installation Checks (PICO)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience/comfort interacting with senior/executive-level active duty military and civilian Government employees.

  • Effective organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.

  • Proficient with common productivity software including Microsoft Office and Project, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.

Typical Physical Activity:

  • Essential physical duties of this position include climbing, typing, hearing, talking, vision, and walking.
