Who will you be working with?

The Lead Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for qualifying new suppliers, developing existing suppliers, working with Sourcing to manage and implement supplier/engineering changes, and driving resolution of supplier quality problems and corrective actions.

How will you make a difference?

In short, ensuring and improving the overall quality of supplier-manufactured material for assigned commodities and/or areas of the plant.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in a Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing, or Engineering role).

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing, or Engineering role

  • Experience in a Quality role

  • Experience manufacturing, remanufacturing, or servicing diesel engines

  • Ability to interpret blueprints/drawings and specifications

  • Strong customer focus

  • Experience with PPAP or similar part qualification processes

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement

  • Knowledge of ISO/other certifying bodies’ standards, quality procedures, and audit techniques

  • Statistically literate and familiar with Six Sigma quality concepts and tools

  • Ability to analyze problems and identify root causes

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Ability to influence others and lead cross-functional teams

  • Ability to handle diverse activities simultaneously

What will your typical day look like?

  • Drive supplier selection and qualification through robust PPAP part qualification processes

  • Interface with suppliers and internal Supply Chain to implement quality improvements

  • Work closely with Sourcing Leaders to manage and implement supplier/engineering changes, New Product Introductions, and Work Transfers

  • Lead root cause investigations of significant supplier quality problems

  • Lead containment of supplier quality escapes

  • Closely monitor supplier performance to drive defect reduction, corrective action closure, SAP/cost recovery, and other metrics

  • Execute On Site supplier audits, ensuring compliance and driving improvement plans where needed

  • Mentor/coach key suppliers to achieve industrial standards of excellence

  • Lead improvement projects associated with assigned suppliers

  • Understand and manage the quality system, incorporating all specifications and customer requirements

  • Provide technical support and guidance to assure product quality and conformance
