Job Summary: The Engineering Manager in a composite manufacturing environment is responsible for leading the engineering team in the design, development, and production of composite materials and products. This role involves overseeing engineering projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards, managing resources, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Project Management: Oversee engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and specifications are met.
Design and Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design composite products, utilizing advanced materials and manufacturing techniques.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement best practices to optimize production efficiency and product quality.
Quality Assurance: Ensure that all engineering activities comply with industry standards and regulations; oversee testing and validation of composite products.
Resource Management: Manage engineering resources effectively, including staffing, budgeting, and equipment allocation to meet production demands.
Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless integration of engineering efforts with manufacturing processes.
Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and emerging materials in composite manufacturing; drive innovation within the engineering team.
Documentation: Oversee the creation and maintenance of engineering documentation, including design specifications, process flows, and technical reports.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials, or related field); a Master's degree is preferred. 5+ years of experience in engineering roles, with a focus on composite materials and manufacturing processes. Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams and projects. Strong understanding of composite materials, manufacturing techniques, and industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO). Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams. Proficiency in CAD software and engineering tools relevant to composite design and analysis.

Essential Physical Requirements: Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, stretching, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate. You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protectio , a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms. Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty. Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive collaborative communication with co-workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends. At times, the ability to work overtime also may be required but it is not usual.
