Job Title: Manual Lathe Machinist
Job Description
Operate multiple manual lathe machines throughout the shop to create and repair boat components. The ideal candidate needs to be mechanically inclined and own a set of micrometers and calipers.
Responsibilities
Operate multiple manual lathe machines to create and repair boat components.
Read and interpret blueprints to set up and operate machines accurately.
Measure and verify dimensions of products using micrometers and calipers.
Convert fractions to decimals and read machinist scales accurately.
Work on bearings, brass, iron, and duramax materials.
Ensure compliance with all safety and PPE requirements in the shipyard.
Essential Skills
5+ years of experience in manual lathe machining.
Proficiency with manual lathes, blueprints, calipers, and micrometers.
Ability to measure in 0+- .001 accuracy.
Mechanical inclination and ability to set up machines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working with various materials such as bearings, brass, iron, and duramax.
Ability to work in varying environmental conditions.

Work Environment
The job is based in a boatyard, working outside in varying conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow. Adherence to PPE requirements is mandatory. The second shift works Monday through Friday, with weekends and overtime assigned as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hahnville, Louisiana.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
