This position, in the Bureau of Health Statistics and Registries, Division of Vital Records, supports the bureau's mission of managing a statewide registry for vital events and supervising the operations of the Central Regional Office. This Central Region Branch Manager (Administrative Officer 1) is responsible for providing advice and counsel to the public regarding vital event records and certificates, examining and processing a range of applications for vital event certificates, amending birth and death records, and registration of death cases. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position you manage all vital records activities in the Harrisburg and Scranton offices. You advise and counsel consumers on how to file a reports of live births, foreign births, deaths, fetal deaths, domestic adoptions, and foreign born adoptions.

Duties include registering death and fetal death events reported at a branch, advising adopters and their dependents on how to apply for a noncertified copy of original birth record, processing applications for birth certificates and death certificates, and processing amendments and corrections to birth records and death records. You also perform public relations duties through daily interaction with consumers in the branch offices. This includes addressing consumer complaints that cannot by resolved by subordinate staff. It is important to utilize firm and appropriate people skills to deescalate tense situations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Two years of experience in varied office management or staff work; and bachelor's degree; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Other Requirements:
