DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Custodial Work Supervisor, you will provide supervision and instruction over personnel engaged in general cleaning activities, enforce safety measures of all subordinate employees, prepare and assign work schedules, and monitor and inspect daily work for compliance.  You will be responsible for ensuring the interior and exterior of assigned areas are maintained in a clean and orderly condition, including clearing of walkways and entrances of snow and ice during the winter season.

Our successful candidate will supervise and instruct staff on the proper use and operation of small power equipment and request additional supplies or equipment as needed.  You will be responsible for ensuring that supplies and equipment are requisitioned for custodial personnel, make recommendations concerning their utilization, and request supplies and equipment repair through the Building Services Manager or Building Administrator.

ESSENTIAL EMPLOYEE - REQUIRED TO REPORT TO WORK DURING EMERGENCIES AND OFFICE CLOSINGS.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment

Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

This position is considered essential, therefore you will be required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Custodial Worker 2 (commonwealth title);or

Two years of experience performing custodial work.

Additional Requirements:

You must possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

Experienceworking in the custodial and floor care/cleaning field.

Experience as a supervisor, group leader, or foreman in a custodial or floor cleaning service.

Willingness to adhere to the guidelines of being an essential employee and abiding by the call-out procedures.

Willingness to supervise and participate in mandatory snow and ice removal which may require reporting to work early and/or evenings, overnight, weekends and holidays or when State Offices are declared closed due to natural or manmade occurrences.

Experience in commercial snow removal with plows, snow blowers, or other snow removal equipment.
