Description:

Saint Francis Hospital a member of Trinity Health Of New England has an exciting opportunity for an Audiologist to join our mission-driven specialized Rehab Team.

The Audiologist is responsible for diagnostic determination of range, nature, and degree of hearing function in neonates, infants, children, and adults. Plans, directs, and participates in case management of hearing-impaired individuals to include follow up of medical, habilitative/rehabilitative, and educational needs. The center provides comprehensive audiological testing, visual reinforced audiometry, conditioned play audiometry, Otoacoustic Emissions testing, Immittance testing, extended high frequency testing for ototoxic monitoring, and vestibular testing.

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Provides diagnostic hearing evaluations for patients of all ages to determine their peripheral/central auditory status.

  • Performs videonystagmography testing for adults.

  • Determines appropriate medical, habilitative/ rehabilitative, and educational needs; and refers for associated follow-up to address those needs.

  • Establishes and communicates appropriate recommendations for intervention appropriate to the age and developmental level as documented in the evaluation reports.

  • Effectively adapts testing procedures and environment for pediatric evaluations or difficult-to-test patients.

  • Maintains appropriate communication with treatment team, physicians, clients, and/or family members to facilitate problem solving, program planning and education.

  • Manages the newborn hearing screening program for the hospital and ensure proper training for nurses and technicians.

  • Conducts newborn hearing screenings and initial follow up using automated auditory brainstem responses testing and otoacoustic emissions testing.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree Audiology

  • Current State of CT license.

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence-Audiology, awarded by the American Speech/Language/Hearing Association.

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. This may include explaining clinical, technical and diagnostic procedures to clients and their families, counseling patients and their families and enforcing policies and regulations in difficult situations.
