Position Summary

TheSr. Clinical Affairs Manager, Interventional Urology delivers professional education to surgeons, support staff, and Teleflex employees in partnership with Sales Training, Marketing, and R&D for the Interventional Urology product portfolio to achieve exceptional great clinical outcomes for patients. As an integral member of the Clinical Affairs team, this position manages field-based Clinical Affairs Managers and is responsible for processing and deployment of Clinical Affairs support requests, including case coverage, delivery of professional education, peer-to-peer events, and conferences and conventions. This key role is integral to the rapid adoption of the UroLift® system and will participate in the continual improvement of training programs through contributions to training materials for both internal and external customers.

The role of the Sr. Clinical Affairs Manager, Interventional Urology is to manage the field based Clinical Affairs Managers. The Sr Manager will report to the Director of Clinical Affairs Interventional Urology and will work in conjunction with the inside Clinical Affairs Manager. Activities will be assigned from the Director to the Sr. Managers and can be delegated to the assigned Clinical Affairs Managers should this action be necessary.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Manage Clinical Affairs Managers.

  • Manage budget relating to direct reports and case coverage responsibilities.

  • Partner with sales personnel and customers to achieve great clinical outcomes through patient selection, product training, and case support.

  • Conduct and deploy support of training for surgeons and OR staff for the IU product portfolio.

  • Continue to support event related activities as needed: Summits, OSA, AUA, Peer-to-Peer events

  • Continue to support cases as needed and as time permits

  • Partner with Sales Training to develop and implement training plans for Sales Territory Managers and Contract Case Support Representatives.

  • Train sales personnel, contract case support representatives (Clinical Specialists), and distributors to conduct training and case support for the IU product portfolio.

  • Evaluate sales personnel using objective criteria to determine proficiency in training and case support for the IU product portfolio

  • Manage case coverages for new surgeons through Advanced, Advanced Anatomy, and In-office transition.

  • Participate in the planning and implementation of educational activities at Sales and Training Meetings.

  • Participate in the planning and coordination of Clinical Affairs activities at conferences and conventions.

  • Participate in the evaluation, development, and refinement of training materials and programs in a creative, dependable, and flexible manner to achieve high-quality work-product.

  • Responsibilities may occasionally extend outside specified region including international locations.

  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Assist with maintaining Clinical Affairs yearly budget.

  • Support and attend regional meetings as needed to provide input from the Clinical Affairs department to align with company goals and support corporate activities in alignment with various departments.

  • To be the direct contact of all new Clinical Affairs Managers

  • Direct contact to discipline and removes employees if needed from the Clinical Affairs Department

  • Responsible to perform regular field-rides with each Clinical Affairs Manager per quarter or as needed.

  • Support and lead all team-based calls and team meetings during the year.

  • Report weekly and monthly activities to the Director of Clinical Affairs as needed or requested.

  • Support as a backup to the team to support any and all activities requested by the Clinical Affairs Manager in case support cannot be done. This relates to:

  • Preceptorships

  • Case coverage

  • Conferences

  • Summits

  • OSA

  • Deliver all quarterly and yearly reviews to each Clinical Affairs Manager

  • Assign Clinical Affairs Manager(s) to various activities outside of their regular corporate travel.

  • Complete tasks assigned by Director and delegate to Clinical Affairs Managers as needed.

  • Align with other Sr Manager to support Clinical Affairs Managers for all faculty related events and deliver consistent messaging to the team.

  • Maintain accurate reports based on field activities to report to the Director or upper level management as needed

  • Monitor effectiveness of each Clinical Affairs Manager in their assigned region to ensure value add support to each assigned region.

  • Monitor personal goals set forth by each Clinical Affairs Manager to assist with them achieving their corporate goals.

Education / Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.

  • At least 10 years of professional training or OR-based sales experience.

  • Demonstrated clinical mastery related to surgical devices and urology experience preferred.

  • Professional work ethic, strong organizational skills, and the ability to perform at high levels independently.

  • Strong interpersonal skill and experience training surgeons in an OR setting.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; Prezzi, Video editing, Articulate, SalesForce experience preferred.

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license issued by the state in residing state and good driving record.

  • Ability to travel, up to 80%. Overnight travel is required. International travel may be required.

  • Responsible for performing all duties in compliance with FDA’s Quality System Regulation (QSR), ISO13485, the Canadian Medical Device Regulations, and all other international regulatory requirements with which Teleflex complies.

Language and Verbal Skills:

Individual must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally.

Math Skills:

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Analytical and Reading Skills:

Ability to read, understand and abide by company procedures. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and report on findings.
