Function Description :

Credit Authorizations is a critical function within the Credit Risk Strategy organization. It is a strategic competitive advantage of American Express as it is the core risk management engine behind our flagship charge card and other payment and lending products.

The position is responsible for managing Credit Risk Authorization strategies for consumer cards across all international markets. The incumbent will lead a team of highly motivated risk professionals to develop, execute, and communicate credit authorization strategies to support profitable business growth initiatives ensuring adherence to Credit policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and continuously enhance Credit Authorization controls and processes for mitigating credit risk exposure

  • Conduct extensive quantitative analysis of consumers to optimize Credit Risk strategies and capabilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and integrate new data sources and capabilities into decision-making

  • Interaction with various business partners such as Regional risk teams and Compliance to gain alignment on proposed solutions

  • The successful candidate will also work closely with global authorization strategy counterparts to leverage best practices and coordinate strategy implementations with risk & modeling teams, thus ensuring delivery on AXP financial commitments and customer goals

  • Maintaining an effective control environment, monitoring health of strategies and portfolio and taking appropriate actions to remediate

Qualifications

  • 4 years in the Analytics domain. Experience in Credit Risk management is preferred.

  • People leadership experience is a plus

  • Strong analytical skills and experience with the ability to draw business insight from rigorous and complex data analyses

  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and solve complex capability problems

  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, communicate effectively, and lead through influence – with the purpose of driving change and delivering positive outcomes.

  • Proficient in working with data manipulation and analytical software like SAS, SQL, Hive, Python etc

  • Master’s degree in quantitative field or MBA
