Summary:
Under moderate supervision and in collaboration with clinical staff, the Dietary Assistant performs a range of tasks to ensure that patients receive accurate and efficient delivery of adequate nutrition.
Responsibilities:
• Assists with the transportation and delivery of meals and food service to patients throughout the hospital.
• Coordinates menu selection with patients and clinical staff.
• Performs quality checks to ensure match between prepared food and dietary restrictions as documented in dietary system.
• Communicates and facilitates documented diet changes to clinical, dietary and kitchen staff, including during meal service.
• Collaborates with dietician in review of patient records in electronic medical recordkeeping (EMR) tool for understanding and effective use of dietary plan

Required
• High school degree or equivalent
• Must have demonstrated ability to use desktop computer systems, such as Microsoft Windows as well as basic software such as Microsoft Word or similar
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
Preferred
• Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
