The role you’ll contribute:

Responsible to the Chief Nursing Officer or Chief Operating Officer (Executive), this position will assist with the overall planning, organizing, and operational functions and activities for assigned patient care programs / units, to ensure delivery of optimal quality care and organizational effectiveness. The Director of Cardiovascular Services will have 24/7 accountability and responsibility assisting with planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the delivery of care for safety, effectiveness and cost containment for Outpatient Cardiology, Non-Invasive Cardiac Testing, Cardiac Cath/Interventional Radiology Lab, and any other Cardiovascular procedural programs that report to the Executive for Cardiac Services. This position indirectly: advises/manages service areas that impact patient care for the Cardiovascular patient population. The Director will evaluate patient care, operational efficiencies, performance methods and employee issues, and make recommendations for improvement. Participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Works with the Executive for Cardiac Services to plan and implement strategies to build service lines, increase market share and provide optimal efficiencies for patients and physicians.

· Monitors quality metrics and creates and implements process improvement plans to ensure goals are met for the Cardiac Services areas.

· Prioritizes, effectively communicates priorities, and delegates duties accordingly. Maintains staff productivity. Ensures appropriate shift and call coverage.

· Serves as resource to staff. Trains and instructs team and other staff. Assesses orientation and competency progress.

· Councils and evaluates staff. Maintains a supportive atmosphere conducive to quality care, department growth, staff development and high morale.

· Maintains patient cost-effective capital equipment and supply inventories. Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment and otherwise facilitates repair. Meets with vendors and evaluates new products.

· Implements equipment quality control programs ensuring staff participation. Maintains supportive documentation according to regulatory standards.

· Collaborates with Executive on budget, service line marketing, policy, and program development as well as other operational and growth initiatives.

· Collaborates with Executive to ensure that department operations comply with all regulatory agencies' requirements and facility policies and procedures and Mission expectations.

· Participates in the hiring process for department(s). Completes performance evaluations timely and is involved in employee counseling, coaching and termination per policy. Provides orientation for new employees and ensures compliance with department policy and procedure. Maintains high levels of employee engagement and job performance by providing recognition and opportunities for learning. Ability to appropriately handle stress and interact with others.

SERVICE:

· Ensures that all applicable standards of care/practice are met, and that hospital and departmental policies and procedures are complied with at all times.

· Promotes a positive image and maintains a helpful, professional attitude towards employees, patients, physicians, visitors, and the community to enhance the image.

· Responsible for Patient Experience HCAHPS composites in all departments and ensure that action plans are implemented in order to reach goals.

· Support and promote excellence in customer/guest relations. Use creativity and innovation in order to exceed customer expectations while meeting behavior standards.

· Promote and validate compliance with all service standards.

· Develop positive relationships with all Medical Staff and ensure that communications and follow up with medical staff are prompt and positive, even when the communications are difficult.

· Strive to meet and maintain high-level patient satisfaction in all clinical areas - (top quartile percentile ranking).

PEOPLE:

· Develops positive working relationships with staff and other functional team members within the hospital as well as with both internal and external referral sources.

· Ensures staff is provided with professional development opportunities as needed to maintain and enhance skills needed for excellent clinical practice.

· Completes timely, meaningful performance evaluations and provides regular feedback and mentoring on performance.

· Conducts staff meetings to facilitate active communication, team building, problem-solving and training.

· Collaborates with the Executive regarding patient care issues and communication with the Medical Staff

· Gives proper attention to professional succession planning.

· Establish relationships with all levels of staff and management team across the organization.

· Identify and support development of high potential employees and leaders in their service line.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Bachelor's Degree in Health Care or related field

· A minimum three years' experience in leadership role

· Five years' Clinical Experience within Cardiology or Cardiovascular Services

  • Current and valid license as a registered nurse

  • BLS

  • ACLS
