Summary

 

 

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant General Manager with a primary focus on production management to oversee and coordinate the activities of our plant operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient management of production schedules while meeting internal volume, cost, and quality goals. This role is critical in driving operational excellence and requires strong leadership skills, analytical capabilities, and effective problem-solving abilities.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers across all phases of plant operations with a strong emphasis on production.

· Develop and manage production and maintenance schedules to meet internal volume, cost, and quality objectives.

· Utilize operational metrics to analyze productivity, identify issues, and achieve production goals.

· Troubleshoot operational, materials, equipment, and staffing problems, coordinating solutions to enhance production efficiency.

· Lead and oversee change management initiatives within the organization, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption by effectively communicating changes, engaging stakeholders, and providing support throughout the process.

· Mentor and prepare team members for increased responsibilities by identifying and nurturing their potential, ensuring a strong succession plan is in place to effectively fill key roles, including that of the General Manager, when necessary.

· Support plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures in compliance with OSHA and other regulations.

· Manage operations of production areas to ensure achievement of volume, cost, waste, and quality standards.

· Follow overall production schedules to effectively manage staffing and establish daily and shift production goals.

· Monitor shift production metrics to identify and resolve issues, implementing process improvements as needed.

· Coordinate maintenance, turnarounds, and downtime for optimal efficiency and speed in production.

· Ensure staff training processes, equipment, gear, and tool requirements are fulfilled to comply with health and safety regulations.

· Oversee staffing and development of all production supervisors and staff, fostering positive employee relations and teamwork.

· Coach teams in best practices to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

· Resolve escalated issues and problems related to production operations promptly.

· Fill in for the General Mana er when needed, ensuring continuity in leadership and operations.

· Lead and oversee change management initiatives within the organization, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption by effectively communicating changes, engaging stakeholders, and providing support throughout the process.

 

 

Leadership Responsibilities

Oversees 10-12 subordinate supervisors who supervise approximately 230 employees in the Weld, Assembly, Installation, Fabrication, and Paint Departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

 

Education and/ or Experience

· Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.

· Proven experience in a management role with a strong focus on production in a manufacturing or production environment.

· Strong analytical skills with the ability to utilize operational metrics for decision-making and continuous improvement.

· Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with a focus on team development and employee relations.

· In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements, particularly OSHA standards.

· High level of business acumen required.
