Scheduled Weekly Hours:36 Job Description: POSITION SUMMARY: The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Exercise Physiologist is responsible for the coordination and daily operation of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation inpatient and outpatient programming, to include Phase 1 and II Cardiac Rehabilitation, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Heart Failure quality measures, risk factor modification and education for Cardiopulmonary patients. The Exercise Physiologist works collaboratively with Nursing and Physician staff to accomplish cardiac diagnostic testing to include stress testing. Promotes wellness in the community by assisting with outreach education, fitness and healthy lifestyle programming. I. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Effectively performs specified assessment preceding, during and after exercise, and initiates appropriate intervention to maintain safety of patient. Directs patients in the performance of prescribed exercise while at the facility and instructs patients in home exercise. Communicates the program philosophy and goals of the exercise program to patients and assists patients in establishing appropriate goals of rehabilitation. Implements appropriate teaching/counseling for patient and family members. Communicates effectively with team members to provide quality patient care. Evaluates effectiveness of various interventions and charts progress at appropriate intervals. Obtains appropriate physician referrals, patient information and assesses various referrals to Exercise Physiology. Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested. Educational Qualifications: Master's or Bachelor's degree in clinical exercise physiology with emphasis on cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. BLS and ACLS certification. ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) Exercise Specialist certification preferred within one year of employment OR Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification. One to three years of cardiac rehabilitation experience preferred. Basic computer skills Work Relationship: Reports to the Manager, Rehab & Cardio Pulm. Works closely with employees throughout the facility including specialty physicians and their staff. Frequent contact with patients and families. Occasional contact with vendors, public, civic organizations, regulatory agencies and other provider organizations. Working Conditions: Work is performed largely in a pleasant hospital, nursing home, school, home environments with minimal chance for personal injury. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes. Occasional exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
