Bentley Systems UX Designer II in Home or Hybrid, Alberta

UX Designer II

Location: Remote, hybrid, or in-office, Canada

Position Summary:

As a UX Designer II, you play a vital role in helping Bentley create better experiences for our users. You will lead the design effort on various projects in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment – specifically on Bentley’s Digital Experience team. Your role is to design innovative and practical solutions to real-world user problems in the context of established user-centered design processes. You will work closely with team management, product management, users, subject matter experts, and software engineers to develop – and improve – experiences across many user touchpoints.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Collaborate daily with the design team and other cross-functional teams to create understand business and design needs and translate into effective designs that meet user needs.

  • Be a champion and influence for quality design, UX best practices, and advocating for the user’s needs every step of the process.

  • Lead design projects from concept to launch, working closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and research.

  • Conduct user research, analyze data, develop personas, user journeys, user flow, and other artifacts that effectively communicate informed designs.

  • Facilitate design workshops and collaborative sessions to discover problems, define objectives, and refine product requirements that lead to solutions

  • Connect the dots between business requirements, innovation, analytics, and good design through visual representation of ideas

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in UX design, and continuously evaluate and improve our design process

  • Mentor and coach junior designers in the development and completion of projects and learn to serve as a leader.

What We Need from You:

  • A strong track record of designing for cross-platform mobile, responsive web, and desktop experiences.

  • Ability to demonstrate refined design taste, understanding of user-centered design principles, user research methods, and design thinking

  • Knowledge and experience with accessibility standards and inclusive design principles

  • Desire to be a creative, analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills while also being detail-oriented and organized.

  • Familiarity with user testing and data analysis, conducting user testing and data analysis to inform design decisions with data.

What You Bring to The Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Interaction design, HCI, related field, or relevant experience.

  • 3+ years working experience as a UX designer with a focus on digital experiences – preferably SaaS or technology-focused companies.

  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, lo- to hi-fi prototyping, and other tools.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing a wide range of design projects and the ability to effectively communicate design concepts and solutions.

  • Experience leading design projects and mentoring junior designers

  • Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements). The role requires communication with managers, peers, and other colleagues of the company in person, and by utilizing Microsoft Teams chat, calling, and meeting functions.

  • This role does not require travel.
