Regular,

Full-Time, Limited-Term (not to exceed twelve (12) months in duration), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Telework (from employees residence city and state within the United States) may be permissible subject to review and approval by Principal Investigator and RCUH. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $4,100 - $4,666.67/Mon.

DUTIES:

Collaborates with and advises the Principal Investigator (PI), Department of Health (DOH), and key stakeholders in Hawaii to provide recommendations on how to improve accuracy of information on fetal death certificates that are submitted to the DOH. Calls birthing hospitals in Hawaii to understand the current workflow involved in filling out the fetal death certificate. Identifies challenges birth hospitals in Hawaii are having in filling out the fetal death certificate. Coordinates and schedules meetings with the DOH to discuss how to improve their online data entry system for fetal death certificates. Organizes meetings with the PI, DOH, and key stakeholders to update the fetal death certificate to include clinically and epidemiologically relevant information. Completes the application to establish a Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) in the state of Hawaii. Creates training modules to educate staff/providers at all of our birthing hospitals in Hawaii about the fetal death certificate. Schedules virtual meetings to present modules. Conducts surveys to obtain feedback from mothers who have experienced a stillbirth to advise the PI, DOH, and stakeholders on how we can improve the care provided to stillbirth mothers. Formulates action plans to provide awareness and ensure that changes are implemented accordingly. Creates and maintains a database of fetal death cases at Kapiolani Medical Center to understand etiologies/risk factors associated with fetal death in our local population. Analyzes the data and publish abstracts/manuscripts in major OBGYN journals. Tracks expenses incurred and prepares monthly budget reporting to the PI.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

Bachelors Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Science with a focus on pre-medicine.

EXPERIENCE

One to three (1-3) years of experience in health care setting, specifically OBGYN/Womens health and women who have experienced a stillbirth. Includes research project management and manuscript preparation experience.

KNOWLEDGE

Strong knowledge of Pacific Island Cultures, language and customs. Basic knowledge of Human Subjects research, Ethics and Research related to reproductive health. Knowledge about healthcare policy. Knowledge of healthcare practice or similar work in hospital settings. Familiar with financial billing.

ABILITIES and SKILLS

Strong ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to keep accurate notes and records. Proficient in using spreadsheet and other recording, presenting and office processing software (i.e., Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, Microsoft Teams). Proficient in statistics, literature search. Strong organizational skills.

Ability to effectively conduct work remotely (e.g., telework) as applicable.

Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background c eck. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.
