RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs analysis and re-analysis of medical records.
• Processes and maintains records of discharged patients for medical record completion.
• Assists physicians with medical record completion requirements.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: standing, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, repetitive arm/hand motions, frequent gripping of an object,
• Occasional: standing, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, squatting, twisting body, reaching above, at, and below shoulder.
• Operates computer, telephone, fax, copy machine and other office machine.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Post high school course work and/or demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pathology.
• Ability to speak, read, write and understand English both orally and in writing.
• Familiarity ICD-10-CM and CPT4/HCPCS coding preferred.
• Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• One (1) year related healthcare experience, such as a clerk or unit secretary in a hospital or a dental office.
• Prior experience with use of computerized medical records.
• Prior experience with handling and processing patient medical records.
