DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is routine work requiring efficient performance of simple cleaning tasks of an arduous nature. The work of employees in this class involves the thorough execution of tasks, which follow a well-established routine.TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (The following work activities are listed as examples only and in no event shall an employee be limited to only those examples listed here.)•Dusts chairs, tables and other furniture;•Washes windows, walls, woodwork, water closets, tubs and bowls;•Sweeps, mops and washes floors;•Gathers and disposes of refuse;•Uses heavy mechanical equipment in stripping, waxing and polishing floors;•May open or secure buildings;•May varnish, shellac and polish furniture and brass;•May tend the furnace;•May be required to perform minor maintenance tasks such as unskilled painting, or carpentry;•Replaces lights, hangs window shades and venetian blinds;•Replenishes supplies such as paper towels, soap, toilet paper and trash can liners;•Performs other routine housekeeping tasks as needed;
