Phillips 66 Category Manager, AIE in Houston, Texas

The Category Manager is responsible/accountable for leading the team development and implementation of organizational strategies, commercial strategies, and enterprise support for the Automation, Instrumentation & Electrical category. This role ensures the efficient and effective execution of the Phillips 66 Procurement Work Process by procurement employees to meet Business Unit (BU), functional partner regulatory, and financial requirements.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Development of sourcing strategies with key stakeholders and Business Units through cross-functional collaboration

  • Providing commercial strategy education and drive implementation through technical and commercial networks

  • Recognized as an Automation, Instrumentation, and Electrical functional expert by internal and industry peers

  • Has breadth of perspective and technical knowledge to guide tasks with wide scope

  • Managing supplier performance assessments, developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), maintain healthy supplier relationships, and ensure compliance

  • Participate in supplier evaluations as needed throughout the year

  • Coordinate Request for Proposal (RFP) process with technical stakeholders and suppliers for purchases in applicable sub-categories

  • Manage and maintain Business Unit (BU) stakeholder relationships to verify supplier performance, stay abreast of market dynamics, and understand operations objectives that could alter short-and long-term sub­category strategies

  • Drafting, negotiating, executing, and implementing legal T&Cs and commercial terms

  • Actively seeking opportunities to increase productivity and efficiency within the category

  • Compiling market information and supplier knowledge to understand impacts upon supply and supplier competitiveness

  • Serving as the primary communication focal point with the corporate supply base

  • Monitoring functional team efficiency, quality, and managing goals; ensuring that category team and individuals understand the expectations and take appropriate action when needed

  • Promoting an environment that stimulates creative thinking, contingencies, and options that focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 3 years or more of Instrumentation and Electrical Systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of relevant industry experience with the named category (Automation, Instrumentation & Electrical)

  • 7 or more years of relevant industry experience within the Procurement business function

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or Procurement / Supply Chain

  • Strong influential leadership skills

  • High level of interpersonal effectiveness

  • Adept at communications

  • Critical thinking
