Job Summary:

In this role, you will use 2-D/3-D computer-aided design (CAD) to develop design models for civil/structural engineering systems such as earthwork, drainage, road design and foundation. You will assist with the development of work plans and review work prepared by designers/drafters. Your work will help ensure civil/structural designs are high quality, accurate, complete, and in compliance.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develops designs for civil/structural engineering systems such as earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing with minimum supervision from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completed​

  • Assists in constructing detailed scale models​

  • Ensures compliance with approved civil/structural design standards in own work and by those assigned, to provide quality design​

  • Reviews and checks calculations, design models, drawings and design documents prepared by assigned designers/drafters for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality and satisfactory completion​

  • Participates in constructability reviews​

  • Coordinates the reviews for the accuracy of bulk material quantity take-offs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline​

  • Works with designers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements​

  • Assists in the development of work plans, budgets, and schedules for basic civil/structural designer tasks based on input and direction from supervisor in designated discipline​

  • Generates 2D drawings or 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models with minimal guidance from others​

  • Ensures civil/structural systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience
