Siemens Energy Manager, Field Service Engineering and Technical Support in Houston, Texas

A Snapshot of Your Day

The Manager of Field Service Engineering and Technical Support is responsible for developing and driving technical support solutions to the field service team and external customers. This position leads the Field Service Engineers who provide troubleshooting for compression equipment issues ranging from vibration analysis to performance testing to root cause analysis. This role also manages the Technical Support Specialists who provide the field service team with outage planning, scope and documentation development, and technical direction during overhaul execution.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • This function includes a broad range of engineering activities which encompasses Centrifugal and Reciprocating Compressors.

  • Field Engineers handle advanced field service technical activities such as: Performance Testing, Vibration studies, Surge Testing, Valve leakage testing, P-V curves, Partial discharge/Flux probe testing, Pulsation/acoustic studies, Control valve diagnostics and Root Cause Analysis. This role provides day-to-day supervision of the Field Engineer team to ensure the successful outcome of assigned projects. This includes employee development and direct client interactions to grow the field engineering business.

  • Manage the Technical Support Specialists who provide remote technical assistance to Siemens Energy field activities.

  • Review and provide project specific technical documentation including drawings, technical specifications and procedures.

  • Ability to read and interrupt P&ID’s and machine drawings.

  • Previous work experience in a refinery or chemical plant environment a plus.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Thermo, Aero, Electrical Engineering or related field is required.

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of working experience as a field engineer or similar role; candidates with more years of experience may be eligible for a more senior level position.

  • Expertise in the turbo-compressor and reciprocating compressors product lines and an understanding of processes used in the oil and gas industry is required.

  • 5 years of rotating equipment vibration analysis.

  • Familiarity with API and ASME standards.

  • Strong professional presentation skills, both written and oral, which includes the ability to hold difficult discussions with customers or employees to protect company interests.

  • Proficient in Windows® and Office®

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
