Insight Global Project Engineer III in Houston, Texas

Job Description

As Project Engineer III/Sr., you'll execute engineering on a variety of tactical maintenance projects in the onshore gas transmission sector (CFR 192). Projects such as existing compressor station work, interconnects, various pipeline efforts, hydrotests, geotechnical, replacements, facility modifications and others are some types of the work normally executed. Maintaining focus on safety and compliant designs and an emphasis on continuous improvement is paramount in this role. Support the project managers by implementing and applying engineering techniques within our project life cycle process (design to standards, materials acquisition, design reviews, permitting, management of change, construction support and project closure). Responsible for a diverse range of complex assignments requiring the use of experience, innovation, and judgment. Plans and conducts own work, exercising substantial latitude for unreviewed decisions. Demonstrates technical expertise in executing the engineering of capital pipeline projects. Applies specialized knowledge in the effective completion of projects. Prepares and delivers presentations, such as design reviews, and can lead meetings and discussions. Anticipates internal/external customer needs; assesses requirements and identifies solutions in design work. Maintains a strong understanding of industry and operational safety and code requirements. Works on a combination of engineering specialties covering more than one discipline. Collaborates with teams to ensure compliance, build improvement plans, and meet engineering and project needs. Champions best practice safety standards. Monitors and controls costs and resources associated with projects.

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required

      * Must have four (4) years of experience in a similar tactical/capital project engineering role in the onshore gas transmission, CFR 192, for pre-FEED, FEED, detail engineering, EPC etc.

      * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Application, Blue Beam or equivalent and other typical PC skills utilized in engineering roles

      * Advanced knowledge of the engineering workflow and Project Life Cycle processes as well as supply chain discipline and materials acquisition processes

      * Advanced knowledge of pipeline engineering design principles and applicable design guides, standards, and codes

      * Intermediate knowledge of other engineering subject areas design guides and standards

      * Demonstrated ability in interpreting engineering deliverable content as assigned

      * Proficiency with construction & constructability practices & principles and technology trends

      * Strong understanding of processes and procedures for project controls and estimating * PE certification

      * An understanding of Aconex for document controls

      * Prefer a minimum of six (6) years of progressive hands-on engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry null
