Job Title: Travel Structural Welder (Pulse Arc)

$45/HR + $140/Day Per diem

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Structural Welder with expertise in Pulse Arc Welding. The ideal candidate will have four years of NNS or naval shipyard experience as a first-class welder. This position involves performing various welding techniques in a physically demanding environment, including shipboard and sub-assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform multi-pass, all position fillet, and butt welds using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-P processes.

  • Conduct welding tasks in a physically demanding environment, including climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.

  • Ensure adherence to OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry.

  • Perform Air Carbon Arc Gouging.

  • Properly use fillet and butt weld gauges.

  • Pass all position, Multi-pass Butt Weld, Welder Qualification Tests in accordance with MIL-STD-248D standards.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding), and GMAW-P (Pulse Arc Welding).

  • Experience with Air Carbon Arc Gouging.

  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including shipboard and sub-assemblies.

  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations.

  • Ability to use fillet and butt weld gauges.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a naval shipyard or similar environment.

  • Ability to pass welding qualification tests without additional training.

  • Proficiency in all welding positions including Horizontal (2G), Vertical (3G), and Overhead (4G).

Work Environment

Candidates will work in a physically demanding environment, including confined spaces on board naval ships and in a shop setting. The role involves climbing ladders and stairs. Safety protocols and adherence to OSHA regulations are paramount.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Newport News, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.
