Summary:
The role of Hot Metal Crane Operator is required to set up for the nights cast. You will coordinate movement of ladle to pour molds, make other necessary crane moves throughout the night, close the pit, and cover the torpedo opening with the lid when casting is completed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include the following. Other duties may be assigned):
Coordinate movement of ladle to molds
Must know crane capacity and responsible ensuring that capacities are not exceeded
Complete daily inspection of crane using EEC Crane Inspection Procedure
Re-ladle metal in torpedo car
Add scrap to torpedo car, as necessary
Use beam and chains to set molds or move molds to shakeout
Set up required stands, runners as necessary for multiple ladle pours
Weigh down pieces for cast
Crane Operators are also required to learn and perform Casting Production duties whenever necessary
Must adhere to all housekeeping and safety standards, including the required use of personal protective equipment
Perform additional duties that may become necessary within the department as assigned
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:
Experience running overhead cranes by cab
Trained, with Hot Metal Certification, in the operation of Overhead Cranes by EEC approved in-house program.
Safe work habits
Able to meet vision requirements for Crane Operators
Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (flame retardant clothing, face shields, respirator, safety glasses, etc.)
Must be willing to work flexible hours, all shifts, including mandatory overtime
Skills and Abilities
Good depth perception, able to operate crane from cab
Able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances
Able to adapt in stressful situations
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED
Certified Crane Operator is preferred
