Amazon Hazmat Coordinator in Huntley, Illinois

Description

This position will be responsible for all ORMD spill related activities: Clean-up the affected areas and any contaminated product, reconcile inventory, sort liquidation/waste, maintain and organize the waste management area, salvaging and prepping inventory for resale, research, audits, and cycle counts. In addition, the position must legally handle and process waste in accordance with RCRA, DOT and OSHA regulations within the guidelines of a Large Quantity Generator. The position will also be responsible for researching trends and assisting with reducing inventory losses by presenting data to local Leadership and the Retail Team.

Skill Requirements:

• Maintain a complete and thorough understanding of inventory control and systems in an automated Fulfillment Center

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Must be detail oriented

• Must be able to work independently, and with many teams within the building

• Must have a drive and commitment towards solving problems

Technical Requirements:

• An understanding of Lean

• Microsoft – Excel, Word and Outlook

• Follow DOT, RCRA and OSHA regulations for storage and transport of hazardous waste

Job Responsibilities:

· Regular attendance and punctuality

· Development of data collection process and data management system

· Adhere to strict regulatory safety and quality standards

· Designing of queries, compiling of data, and generation of reports in MS Excel

· Implementing, conducting and administering waste training

· Charting and graphing of data for reporting purposes

· In depth research of damages and spills

· Relocate product if necessary

· Analyze and determine root cause of all inventory adjustments

· Provide daily feedback to process owners with root cause analysis including login detail if available

· Provide inventory adjustment details to corporate based on qualifying thresholds

· Analyze and determine any needed cycle counts to correct errors found during adjustment research. If necessary perform needed cycle counts and/or relocate product virtually and physically

· In the absence of the area manager and/or lead be able to be self-directed

· Communicate with Corporate Retail Teams on Vendor Compliance issues. Communicate all spills, reports, audits and ticket status with ISS Coordinator, Safety Manager/Coordinator and managers

· Responsible for training and supporting all associates and managers

· Oversees the liquidation and Waste Process. Consistently logs all data when and where appropriate

Physical Demands:

· Lift and move up to 49 lbs.

· Lift, bend, reach above the head, kneel, crouch and walk for long periods of time during shift

· Engage in full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists

· Work around moving mechanical parts

· Noise level varies

· Continuous reading of writing

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience

  • High school or equivalent

  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays

  • Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach

  • Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required
