Educational and Experience Requirement: Bachelors degree in a related field. Two years of experience in one or more areas of Human Resources or a related field. Experience in the areas of compensation, classification and/or staffing is preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature and Purpose of Position: Performs highly advanced specialist duties for the Human Resources department.

Primary Responsibilities: Accountable for the execution and follow through of complex and technical human resources responsibilities for the assigned functional areas of compensation, classification and staffing. May also assist with other areas of Human Resources to include: wage and salary administration; employee relations; insurance and retirement benefits; records; employee training and development. Maintains quality customer service for assigned functional area through accurate and timely processing of documents, emails, and phone calls. Provides Human Resource services to faculty and staff according to assigned area. Promptly and accurately responds to information requests. Prepares letters, reports, memos and correspondence when necessary. Provides assistance with policies and procedures as needed. Updates and maintains various databases and online systems. Provides guidance to faculty and staff within assigned area of responsibility. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications: Skilled in completing forms, sending email, composing letters, preparing training material and reports. Daily contact and interaction with university departments, vendors, off campus agencies, faculty, staff, and student employees. Performs research and prepares analytical reports, together with recommendations, on assigned subjects. Position requires confidentiality, attention to detail and accuracy, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within department and across the university community. Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment.

Position may include occasional travel to conferences and/or job fairs.

Up to 40% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
