Humanetics Materials Engineer in Huron, Ohio

Role Purpose: The Materials Engineer will complete research and testing on materials used in Humanetics products.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Review new product plans and make recommendations for material selection based on design objectives, such as strength, weight, heat resistance, electrical conductivity, and cost.

Conduct or supervise tests on raw materials or finished products to ensure their quality.

Plan and implement laboratory operations for the purpose of developing material and fabrication procedures that meet cost, product specification, and performance standards.

Review and approve safety of new raw materials prior to bringing them into the facility and make PPE recommendations if necessary.

Analyse product failure data and laboratory test results to determine causes of problems and develop solutions.

Communicate with raw materials vendors to ensure consistently performing incoming raw materials.

Design and direct the testing and/or control of processing procedures.

Determine appropriate methods for fabricating and joining materials.

Evaluate technical specifications and economic factors relating to process or product design objectives.

Monitor material performance and evaluate material deterioration.

Make material samples and or parts both prototype and production when needed. The materials will consist of rubber material, urethane material and PVC.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree, (B.S.) in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)

3 years of relevant engineering experience

Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, preferred.

Experience with regulatory requirements for safety testing

Experience with APQP documentation (DFMEA, Design Review, DVP&R), preferred
