We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to develop the data strategy that can help shape and bring valuable insights into our complex OTA (over the air) update domain. If you are passionate about processing billions of events, churning Petabytes of data daily, learning innovative public cloud technologies like Spark, Synapse, Azure Fabric, then EDS would love to apply your data expertise to some of the most exciting data problems in the industry.
As a Senior Data Engineer in the team, you will help set the stage for our services team to be a data-led organization and will align with product and cross functional teams, strategize and define engagement models and surface areas to address.You will also collaborate with a variety of internal partner teams across Azure and Microsoft to build reliable, secure, compliant, highly scalable, performant data pipelines and modernize our data infrastructure.The value of your work will be reflected in improvements to the delivery and distribution pipeline of Windows Update platform, bringing efficiency/observability to our updating services, driving insights into our customers, including COGS reduction.You will have opportunities for mentorship, accelerating your career growth, learning new areas and working on truly high-business impact areas

Responsibilities
Data Requirements and Modeling : Partners with stakeholders, escalates concerns around data requirements, feature estimation, informs feasibility of data needs, aligns project delivery, negotiate data agreements.
Data Model Design and Specification : Leads the design of data models, considers tradeoffs, evaluates data costs, proposes data metrics for project, prepares design specification documents, improves data schemas.
Data Management and Extraction : Identifies data sources while ensuring accuracy, validity, and reliability of data across several pipeline components. Contributes to the code review process, aligns business case to implement optimal pipeline orchestration and data management techniques.
Data Transformation and Merging : Leverages reduction techniques and aggregation approaches to derive insights, ensures data quality and completeness using queries, data wrangling and statistical techniques. Merges data into distributed systems, tools for further processing.
Data Tool Design and Maintenance : Identifies opportunities to leverage and contribute to development of data tools. Analyzes relevant data sources that help others develop insights into data architecture designs or solutions.
Engineering fundamentals and Troubleshooting : Follow performance monitoring protocols, build visualizations and aggregations to monitor data quality and pipeline/report health, troubleshoot and fix problems or anomalies, and document and share insights. Perform root cause analysis, implement solutions that minimize points of failure, provide data insights into health of the products owned by the org.
Data Compliance and Governance : Anticipates the need for data governance, follow data modeling and handling procedures to comply with laws and policies, tag and classify data, govern data accessibility and traceability, and contribute to the data glossary.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work
OR equivalent experience.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
