Job Purpose and Objectives:
The County Administrator serves as the Chief Executive Officer in
planning, organizing, directing and reviewing the functions and
activities of the County; assist in establishing, monitoring,
evaluating, and revising Department and County goals, objectives,
policies, and procedures; coordinate activities with outside agencies;
and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the
Board of County Commission (BOCC). Work is performed with a large degree
of independence and is subject to review by the BOCC.
Administrator Duties
- Correspond to citizens written and verbal inquiries and/or
complaints.

- Meeting with select department heads and elected officials leading
departments to discuss departmental direction and concerns.
- Participate in department head meeting.
- Review monthly financial reports.
- Coordinates the departmental expenditures with the controls of the
County Finance Director to endure the exercise of proper budgetary
controls.
- Monitor monthly budget performance.
- Approve accounts payable vouchers as required for utilities, VISA
statement, etc.
- Attend various community meetings to represent the County.
- Assess quarterly financial trends via monthly reports.
- Read management related articles, journals, etc. to stay abreast of
developing trends in public administration.
- Annual budget preparation process - takes about five months.
- Assist with development of legislative platform.
- Attend various professional conferences.
Departmental Duties
- Monitor department performance.
- Be a leader of immediate staff and department heads.
- Be part of the response during a declared state of disaster or
emergency.
- Perform employee evaluations for staff and department heads.
