Job Title: Drafter / DesignerJob Description
We are currently hiring a Drafter / Designer to join our projects team at our Personal Safety Division facility located in Indianapolis. This facility specializes in the manufacturing of various hearing protection products. Our 92,000 square foot plant operates 24/7 and is situated on 5 acres. The primary responsibility of this role is to update outdated plant layout drawings and support design projects, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the facility.
Responsibilities
Update the layout of the facility to reflect new equipment, removed equipment, and relocated sections for raw materials and finished goods.
Design safety procedures and proper layouts for evacuations based on facility locations.
Design utilities and conduits throughout the facility.
Understand and implement process flow designs.
Spend 50% of the time on the floor taking notes, measurements, pictures, etc.
Spend 50% of the time designing new plant layouts or making changes to existing layouts using AutoCAD.
Allocate 25% of the time to new layout design and 75% to updating old layouts.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in plant layout design.
Experience with 2D design software such as AutoCAD, Autodesk, and Autodesk Inventor.
Knowledge of SolidWorks.
Understanding of process flow design and process flow diagrams.
Familiarity with building codes and regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
At least an internship in plant layout design.
Associate's degree in engineering, technology, drafting, or design.
Basic knowledge of utilities and conduit routing design for plant layouts.
Work Environment
The position is based in a manufacturing environment within the ear protection division, which involves a significant amount of foam. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $41.00/hr.
