The Unique Device Identification Program is a fundamental, and complementary component of our Strategic Supply Chain Capabilities. It provides business processes and tools to bring hundreds of data attributes for a specific medical device product across the organization to a single UDI Record. Multiple country specific regulations leverage this global UDI data and build upon it for variations necessary for submission to the appropriate health authorities.

This position has a major focus on supporting global initiatives and their requirements pertaining to Unique Device Identification (UDI) regulations. This position is accountable for business process and data readiness to meet Med Tech initiatives requiring UDI data. The Data Process Lead responsible for ensuring efficient and accurate management of device identification data across the organization. This role involves developing and implementing processes and standards for capturing, organizing, and maintaining device identification information. The role leads and collaborates with multi-functional teams and partner with IT to craft requirements, implement processes and solutions to create and maintain UDI data globally.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Drive the development and implementation of processes across all functional business partners that create data as part of UDI attributes to ensure consistent and accurate device identification data across the organization.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data management gaps and implement processes and data management solutions to address them effectively.

  • Drive the implementation of technology solutions to allow digital data flow throughout the different processes & systems.

  • Drive proper adjustments to current technical files templates in order to prepare documents for genAI and machine learning tools usage.

  • Act as a point of contact and provide subject matter expertise to educate and guide functional business partners on data management best practices and procedures.

  • Develop and deliver training sessions and workshops to foster a culture of data quality and compliance with all functional business partners.

  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures for capturing, validating, and maintaining device identification data.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and establish efficient data management workflows.

  • Monitor and proactively resolve data quality issues, including data inconsistencies, to ensure a high level of accuracy and reliability. Gather and analyze data to identifying patterns, apply lessons learned and prioritize to solve issues.

  • Develop and implement data governance strategies to ensure compliance with requirements and standards.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and emerging technologies related to device identification processes and data management.

  • Ensure robust Business and system process documentation are in place and periodically review and update SOP’s/WI’s as needed.

  • Drives error analysis to uncover root cause and recommends processes to ensure errors do not reoccur and for productivity/efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

Education:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.

  • Process excellence (Lean, 6sigma), project management an asset

Experience:

  • 7 years of industry experience in business functions that generate product data such as new product introduction, R&D, quality, and supply chain is required.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of unique device identification regulations (such as UDI, FDA, EUDAMED)

  • Experience in developing and implementing data management processes and standard.

  • Proficient in data analysis and quality assessment techniques

  • Knowledge of transitioning business processes to enable digital data capabilities

  • Multi-functional/Cross-Company Working Experience

  • Strong interdependent partnering skills, interpersonal communication, and influencing skills

  • High proficiency with Microsoft software packages (Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on accuracy and data integrity.

  • Ability to influence and inspire changes to business processes/systems.

  • End to end knowledge of New Product Introduction, Life Cycle Management and Supply Chain business processes (e.g., Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, Quality) is a plus.

  • Analytical skills, problem solving using data facts.

  • Experience with implementing technology solutions to enable data utilization including Business User Requirements and Acceptance Test Script writing experience is a plus.

Other:

  • Requires up to 5-10% traveling.
