Compensation
$30.55 per hour
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Foreman and Site Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic Helper is responsible to work on all maintenance and repair of plant equipment. The primary duty of the role is to complete routine maintenance tasks associated with the facility including but not limited to screen cloth changes, conveyor maintenance and chute repairs.
Main Responsibilities
Completes repairs according to generally accepted methods under guidance of the Foreman and/or Site Manager
Performs routine scheduled maintenance as outlined by the Foreman and/or the Site Manager
Independently removes components for repair or replacement such as, but not limited to; motors, gearboxes, pulleys, bearings, rollers, conveyor belts, v-belts, etc.
Inspects and assists Maintenance Mechanic with major repairs of crushers, screens and other processing equipment
Independently inspects and replaces screen media (with assistance), etc.
Performs minor welding and cutting -- must pass a welding/cutting test (certification not required).
Replaces and or repairs chute liners/wear plates, etc.
Assist Maintenance Mechanic with crusher liner changes
Performs clean-up as necessary to keep tools, equipment, and working areas clean, orderly, and safe
Inspect work area for safety, environmental defects
Complete daily pre/ post area/equipment inspections - report as needed
Operates support equipment as needed during maintenance tasks once properly tasked trained
Other duties as assigned by Site Manager and/or Foreman
Skills
2 years minimum experience in a similar industry preferred
Ability to use necessary tools
Must understand all of your controls and have experience with various types of equipment including man lifts, fork lifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts, etc.
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive company vehicle
Understands MSHA and CALOSHA regulations
Must have a strong, team-oriented work ethic with strong focus on safety and environmental compliance
Ability to understand and follow Company Handbook and Safety Policies
Ability to work well with others
Must have a strong mechanical aptitude
Must be able to follow oral and written plans and directions
