The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Vendor Risk Management Senior Specialist will assist the Legal Counsel & Director of Risk & Compliance in the management and oversight of the Vendor Risk Management (VRM) function. This includes engagement with operational vendor managers, corporate control groups, and third-party vendors to identify and memorialize potential risk related to the vendor’s engagement (product/service) throughout the vendor lifecycle.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review all incoming vendor onboarding and risk review requests and add the appropriate stakeholders (e.g. IT Security, Legal, Procurement, etc.) to the project (vendor) in Workday Strategic Sourcing (WSS).

  • Monitor to ensure all steps in the VRM process are completed prior to approval.

  • Oversee the escalation and remediation of all vendor related issues identified through ongoing monitoring, the risk assessment process, or incident management.

  • Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance and security best practices are implemented.

  • Proactively manage client VRM interactions, working independently under guidance to address inquiries and provide necessary evidence.

  • Produce and maintain reporting and metrics for both internal and external partners to highlight issues, risks, and status.

  • Assist with the preparation of semi-annual VRM reporting to the executive team.

  • Help facilitate semi-annual and annual director VRM reviews.

  • Help facilitate quarterly VRM team meetings.

  • Manage the process for requesting Certification of Insurance (COI), IT Security Questionnaires to vendors, SOC reports, and PCI attestation via WSS.

  • Respond to inquiries and examination requests by supporting elements of the regulatory and audit examination cycle.

  • Contribute to the development of detailed procedural documents and ensure alignment with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor industry trends, competitive insights, and maintain compliance with regulatory expectations and requirements.

  • Assist with general risk management and compliance responsibilities as assigned.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Strong understanding of vendor risk management processes.

  • Proficient in the understanding of vendor risk management practices, including the lifecycle of risk identification, treatment, mitigation, acceptance, remediation, as well as inherent and residual risks.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Demonstrated analytical ability and the capacity to utilize critical thinking skills, coupled with strong reasoning abilities and sound judgment.

  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality deliverables while coordinating multiple projects.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills. Team player, with ability to respond with flexibility and understanding.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with tact and maturity. Demonstrated emotional intelligence.

  • Resourceful, well organized, dependable, and efficient. Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

    EXPERIENCE

Requirements

  • Five years of experience working with vendor risk management processes.

Preferences

  • Experience working with Workday Strategic Sourcing.

  • Experience working with procurement processes and strategies.

    EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
