Caterpillar’s Resource Industries segment caters to customers using machinery in mining, heavy construction, quarry and aggregates. We currently have an opportunity for a Supplier Development Engineer, based in Jakarta. The position is responsible to assess the supplier quality and ensure that all the products are free from defects and are in compliance with manufacturing specifications and legal standards.
What You Will Do:
Ensure the quality of supplies by conducting tests and assessments on incoming supplies to identify any quality issues.
Develop supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanism.
Generate reports on supplier quality, by monitoring their defect rates and areas that can lead to potential flaws.
Guide suppliers to reduce these defect rates.
Research the potential vendors, assessing their manufacturing environment, practices, and procedures.
Conduct supplier quality control audits to ensure compliance with organizational and federal policies and standards.
Support suppliers in improving their performance through process enhancements, implementing process controls, and developing quality assurance plans.
Make sure only PPAP Approved before supplier dispatching the goods as part of development stage.
Bridging and facilitating the technical communication among suppliers and internal CAT stake holders as part of the problem-solving activities and any required new product introduction (NPI)/new parts development process.
Actively support and fully engage for any projects/initiatives to improve the efficiency and supplier’s process effectively to strive the CAT’s objective in PQVC.
What You Have:
Technical Knowledge in:
Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) elements, submissions, and objectives; ability to determine whether a supplier can manufacture products that meet the quality requirements and standards of their customers consistently.
Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.
Supplier Management processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.
Quality management methods, tools, and techniques; ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
Effective Communications:
Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own communication effectiveness.
Makes oral presentations and writes reports needed for own work.
Problem Solving:
Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder.
Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information.
Helps to analyse risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution.
Process Improvement:
Implements methods for improving and establishing controls for critical processes.
Focuses on the most significant problems to maximize efficiency gains.
Surfaces systemic problems to be addressed at the organizational level.
