Air National Guard Units POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32) in Jefferson Barracks, Missouri

Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a WG-5378-10 POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1561000 in FAC 44M200 and is part of the MO 239th Combat Communications Squadron. APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This is a Permanent Excepted Service position. This is a bargaining position. Responsibilities Conducts on-the-job training (OJT) for personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.Performs other duties as assigned. Installs, inspects, troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, operates, overhauls, tests, modifies powered ground support equipment, such as engine driven generator sets, heaters, ventilation, air compressing, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. Performs intermediate-level maintenance on powered support equipment. This includes working on engines and generators such as removing, repairing, and overhauling of accessories, and rebuilding of units. Paints equipment to possibly include Chemical Agent Resistant Coating (CARC) finishes. Replaces, checks and adjusts valves, bearings, cams, clutches, bushings, springs, armatures, push rods, exhaust manifolds, tubing, hose and defective wiring. Diagnoses malfunctions, using visual and auditory senses, test equipment and applicable technical publications; makes repairs, removes, disassembles and assembles components and sub-systems. Uses special purpose power generating equipment and systems to provide electrical power for deployable communications and data processing facilities. . Uses special purpose air conditioning units and systems to provide specific and critical temperature control in deployable communications and data processing facilities Installs, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, and modifies multi-fuel tactical heating units. Utilizes layout drawings electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and refrigeration schematics and pictorial diagrams to solve maintenance problems. Performs periodic scheduled maintenance inspections. Paints equipment to possibly include Chemical Agent Resistant Coating (CARC) finishes. Plans and fabricates electrical power distribution equipment. Maintains and provides for bench stock, automated maintenance and mobility products, Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), hazardous waste, contaminated waste control, and safety procedures. Maintains historical and training records and performs administrative duties for technical orders (TO) and files. Plans power and lightning grounding schemes, cables, connectors to interface with military and commercial power system sand sub-systems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Selected candidate will be required to be in a compatible military assignment prior to effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be AFSC qualified within 12 months from date of appointment. Enlisted - AFSC 2A3X3, 2A6X2, 3E090, 3E0X1 or 3E0X2 Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Technicians will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics; and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment. WG-10 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 18months of specialized experience that demonstrates your ability to install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, modify and test various types of powered ground support equipment, air compressing, ventilation, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment. The specialized experience must also indicate that you have working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics. Must currently hold or have held AFSC 3E0X2 or 3E1X1. This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
