About the role

Complex Director in National Accounts is an account based position where you will handle all aspects of excess casualty claims for specific AIG insureds. As a Complex Claims Director you will be responsible for the following:

  • Determine the scope and extent of available coverage. Re-evaluate coverage as warranted.

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication with insureds, brokers and underwriters.

  • Prepare and execute investigation strategies which identify critical issues effecting liability, causation and damages and consider opportunities of third-party contribution. Independently negotiate claims after obtaining the appropriate authority.

  • Document evaluation, thought process, and strategy. Utilize ADR as appropriate and necessary involving excess auto/GL exposures.

  • Effectively strategize and budget the litigation of each claim through discussions with counsel, vendors and insureds.

  • Establish with defense and coverage counsel clear ground rules in order to maintain financial control of budget and expenses.

  • Make regular and appropriate contact with internal and external customers.

  • Give guidance to insured and/or broker, develop close working relationship, coordinate strategies with insured and broker as needed and manage expectations.

  • Possess good negotiation skills.

  • Attend trials, mediations and strategy meetings.

  • Attend client renewal meetings and pre renewal meetings with underwriting.

  • Nationwide knowledge of jurisdictional litigation environments.

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years of Commercial/ Industry claims experience preferred.

  • Property and Casualty licenses required, must be obtained within 6 months

  • College degree required

  • Travel 25%+
