The anticipated salary range for this role is between $122,000.00 and $175,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

To support SMBC Americas' business growth strategy, SMBC Finance is executing a major initiative to review and enhance critical Finance processes within its US operations, including financial planning, reporting, and data management. Working with core Finance teams and other key colleagues (Technology, Risk, Compliance, etc.), Finance Change is primarily responsible for establishing and managing large-scale programs focused on implementation of processes, methodologies, and systems that meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices. The Vice President will be responsible for driving defined projects/workstreams as the primary responsible contact and working closely with stakeholders across SMBC Americas.

Role Objectives

We are looking for a business/data analyst to join our team and help us deliver key Finance initiatives, starting with Oracle Cloud GL implementation. You will be responsible for:

  • Working with large and complex datasets using various tools and techniques

  • Analyzing and interpreting data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies

  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of finance systems and financial products and processes

  • Providing execution support and process monitoring while driving rigor throughout the process.

  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders and presenting analysis findings and recommendations

  • Leading and facilitating project workshop sessions with cross-functional teams

  • Focus on improving governance, efficiency and control through process optimization, and proactively identifying and remediating areas of regulatory deficiencies.

  • Identify opportunities for automation, increased transparency, and enhancement of business processes.

  • Prepare executive-ready presentations and updates, including concise and clear visual artifacts to support management understanding.

  • Lead and manage working groups responsible for executing on targeted remediation and enhancement activities within Finance.

  • Collaborating with other analysts, developers, and project managers to ensure quality and timely delivery of projects

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as business, finance, economics, statistics, or computer science

  • At least 3 years of experience as a business or data analyst in the finance industry, working on large-scale initiatives

  • Experience working with Subledger data from Broadridge

  • Experience with Posting Engines and General Ledger booking process

  • Experience with using product data models

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and languages such as SQL, Python, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, etc.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to successfully influence and build effective partnerships with all levels of team members and colleagues

  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently in ambiguous environments that are not clearly defined

  • Ability to be flexible and follow tight deadlines

  • Proactive self-starter with ability to prioritize efforts across multiple projects and manage competing deadlines

  • Passion for learning and staying updated with the latest trends and developments in the finance and data domains

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills commensurate with production and presentation of management-ready materials. Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel applications
