Army Installation Management Command Secretary (Office Automation) in Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington

Summary About the Position: This position is located in Directorate of Public Works, Office of the Director on JBLM, WA. Responsibilities Serve as the principal office administrator to the Director of Public Works, and Deputy Director , of a 500-person organization, executing a $300M annual budget, overseeing the facility operations and maintenance of 2500 facilities. Responsible for the day-to-day office administrative details and acts upon own initiative, judgment, and responsibility to perform the duties. Uses office automation equipment to perform clerical duties. Receive visitors and telephone calls, determine nature of business and personally assist or refer to appropriate staff member. Maintain the director calendars and schedules appointments without prior approval for the Director and Deputy DPW based upon personal judgment and knowledge of supervisors' desires and activities. Review outgoing correspondence for proper format, procedural and typographical accuracy, and grammar. Maintain time and attendance reports, and leave projections for key personnel. Make all travel arrangements for Director and Deputy, arranging itineraries, transportation, lodging and preparing travel orders. Prepare daily meeting agenda and read ahead packets for Director and Deputy Director Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative duties for an office to include maintaining information and files; managing multiple appointments and schedules; and preparing correspondence and other documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
