The Electrical Engineering team designs, develops or coordinates development of components, small systems, quality systems, processes or materials.
This role in summary
The Hardware Engineering position is responsible for designing electronics, from requirements to production release embedded in Whirlpool Appliances. You will execute engineering tasks as part of cross-functional teams for new product development programs responsible for concepts, requirements, design, analysis and test.
Get engaged to a Global and cross-functional team to rapidly and efficiently deliver hardware with outstanding performance, from requirements to validation. The team you will be a part of is responsible for the development of cooking category hardware including User Interfaces and Control Boards. The immediate team is co-located in Brazil and USA. There is a larger global cooking hardware also located in Italy, India, and China.
This position will be based out of Joinville , São Paulo on a 4 days on-site work shceme.
Your responsibilities will include
Develop and validate embedded hardware applications
Select and integrate hardware modules to build embedded hardware applications.
Electronic/Electrical Circuit Model/Simulation
PCB Layout review and component selection for hardware execution.
Prototype assembly, bring up, debugging, and functional verification
Along with engineering & procurement staff, manage all communication with suppliers/manufacturers on defined supply components and evaluate all results effectively.
Project Execution Activities
Delivery of projects per commitment to new asset development, cost optimization, and quality targets.
Actively Participate on Technical Design Reviews
Actively Contribute on Change management in place to manage the changes to the project
Capable of proper use of Whirlpool processes and tools.
Deliverables:
Embedded hardware and documentation (Model, Schematic, Simulation, Component list)
Review and interpret all component datasheets and evaluate its application for various product/ module solutions
Hardware project plan and management.
Test plan development and execution
Project KPIs (cost, quality, schedule)
ECM (Electrical Contract Manufacturer) management (technical) until Pilot (connecting with procurement as needed)
Minimum requirements
Engineering degree (Electrical,Electronic)
Solid experience in designing embedded hardware solutions for high-volume products, from the beginning to the end OR experience working with Electronic Components Lifecycle management
Experience with industry standard, Hardware and PCB Layout development and tools.
Able to work with both Global and regional Groups inside EES and Cross platforms, influencing positively the organization in all directions(both Vertical and Horizontal)
Fluent in English
Strong documentation writing skills
Experience with analyzing and resolving system hardware issues.
Preferred skills and experiences
MSC or PHD Engineering degree
Proven skills in OPEX (6 sigma,), EMC & EMI theory, A3 methodology, Power supply Theory;
Great Electrical Engineering fundamentals
Effective communication and negotiating skills
Hands-on experience in prototype bring-up and debugging, functional verification and manufacturing support
Mixed-signal and embedded board-level design experience including 32-bit microcontrollers
Proven experience on microcontrollers/processors/ASIC selection and evaluation
Desired experience in the following areas:
Analog and Digital Logic design
Signal Integrity analysis
Power Supplies and Power management
Testability and DOEs (Design of Experiments)
System integration
processor selection
Various communication protocols
LED driving circuits.
Project assessment & risk management
Experience developing projects in a stage-gate process
Strategic Thinking, ability to create a strategy and a vision for the function
