A-State participates in E-Verify.\ \ Position Summary:\ \ Arkansas State University seeks a dynamic, innovative, and strategic leader to serve as Dean of the Graduate School.\ \ Reporting to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, this pivotal position will act as the chief advisor and liaison for graduate education, while leading the Provost\'s initiative to grow the diverse graduate programs of the university. The ideal candidate will have experience securing and assisting faculty in obtaining external funding from national granting agencies (e.g. the Department of Defense, Department of Education, National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Institutes of Health, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the National Science Foundation).\ \ The responsibilities include assistance in curriculum development; increasing graduate enrollment; expanding externally funded research in collaboration with college deans and the Vice Provost for Research, Innovation and Discovery; strengthening the research relationships between A-State and its various constituencies and ten colleges, in particular the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Beck College of Sciences and Mathematics, College of Agriculture, College of Engineering and Computer Science, and New York Institute of Technology School of Osteopathic Medicine. The new Dean must continue to support the University\'s research-intensive status consistent with its Carnegie R2 classification, which denotes high research activity and our standing as a public research institution.\ \ Duties & Responsibilities:\ \ The Dean is the principal administrative and academic officer of the Graduate School and reports to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost.\ \ The new Dean will:\
Direct and implement strategic and aspirational planning for the Graduate School.
Foster collaborative relationships with all on- and off-campus stakeholders serving and being served by graduate programs.
Lead and champion the growth, development, quality, and continuation of graduate programs and graduate education at A-State.
Operationalize and manage budget, office staff, and degree evaluation.
Cultivate progressive academic and administrative policies related to graduate education, while enforcing campus practices and procedures to streamline Graduate School processes.
Oversee and chair the Graduate Council.
Engage with university constituents, including alumni, to enhance A-State\'s growing stature in the state, region, and nation as we continue to expand nationally competitive academic programs through a comprehensive recruiting strategy.
Coordinate and strengthen international graduate student recruitment and admissions.
Assist potential graduate students in securing fellowships funded by federal funding agencies.
Support the expansion of online graduate programs as appropriate.\
