Summary PUERTO RICO NATIONAL GUARD ARMY TECHNICIAN VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Duty Location: PR Field Maintenance Shop (FMS) 9, Fort Allen, Juana Diaz, PR Responsibilities This position require military membership in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard (PRARNG). Selected applicant(s) will be required to complete an online Onboarding process. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This position require military membership in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard (PRARNG). If you are not a military member of the PRARNG (i.e. Airman, civilian, active duty Soldier, prior service, guard member from another state, reservist, IRR, State Guard, etc.), you must contact the Recruiting and Retention (R&R) Office at (787) 289-1400 extension 2015 or 2008, and request the PRARNG Military Basic Requirements (MBR) Certification. If the MBR certification is not submitted, or you do not meet the requirements to be a member of the PRARNG, your application will not be screened. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: HRO MUST process and clear the Department of Defense (DoD), Priority Placement Program (PPP), prior to advertising all internal and external job vacancies and promotion announcements. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1 = All permanent Technician Warrant Officer and Enlisted employee members (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 2 = All indefinite Technician Warrant Officers and Enlisted employee members (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 3 = Warrant Officer and Enlisted currently serving members of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 4 = Warrant Officer and Enlisted Prior (former) members of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard. Area 6 = Applicants who meet all requirements to become Warrant Officer and Enlisted of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard. (If the MBR certification is not submitted, your application will not be screened). First round consideration will be given to Area 1 Candidates. (All other Areas will be screened only in the event that there are no qualified or recommended Candidates) Acceptance of any military technician position may cause the termination of entitlements and eligibility for all military bonuses and student loan repayments. DUTIES: As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR (D1285000), WG-5801-11, you will serve as an inspector of surface maintenance equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications. Duties involve complex inspection work that requires a wide variety of inspection processes and techniques. May assist higher graded inspectors, as required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is performed in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods. There is frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching; or working on top of, under, and in tight compartments or cramped or awkward positions. Performs strenuous work while standing, lying, or sitting. Frequently lifts and carries items, unassisted, weighing up to 40 pounds; and often exerts similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment. Frequently lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. May be required to work from ladders or work platforms at varying heights. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed both inside and outside. When inside, the incumbent is frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperatures, and noise which is difficult to talk above. When outside, the incumbent is exposed to bad weather, in mud or snow, and in wet or icy areas. The incumbent is frequently exposed to irritations or discomfort from dust, heat, fumes, and hard damp floors or ground. Typically works on parts and systems, which are dirty, oily, or greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, burns, bruises, and sprains while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment. Often exposed to the possibility of falls while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment, and skin irritations from acid, fluids, and lubricants. Uses safety equipment such as protective ear devices, hard hats, hard-toe shoes, respirators, and protective clothing, which may be uncomfortable to wear or use and may be worn or used for long periods. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess at least ONE (1) year at the next lower level or the equivalent EIGHTEEN (18) months of specialized experience performing or supervising duties such as inspecting, diagnosing, repairing a large variety of heavy-duty mobile equipment (i.e., combat, tactical, etc.) and automotive vehicles; inspecting heavy artillery, small arms, powered support and other equipment or components; inspecting complex, interrelated mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic and electrical systems, equipment and their components; using testing methods and test equipment; evaluating economic feasibility of repair, preparing lists of needed repairs, parts, and man-hours authorized; performing final inspection, certifying that equipment is in satisfactory operating condition, or returns the equipment to the repair shop. Education There is education requirement at this time for this position.
